 In 2019, Frank Corso participated in the compilation of popular music that dates back to the 19th Century. “Protobilly is an in-depth exploration of the reverberations of American popular songs of the 19th Century and the Turn-of-the-Century through early country music in the 1920s and 1930s. Just as much of the early jazz repertoire came from 19th Century and early 20th Century popular songs that the pioneer jazz musicians had grown up with, the early country music recording artists adapted many of the same kinds of songs and tunes” (Hoyle Osborne, 2019).     Painting and music have always gone hand in hand for me, and I have pursued both for nearly my entire life. I have chosen to make my living primarily from painting, but continue my exploration of roots music as a parallel.

    I have dabbled with building my own instruments since the early 80's and have built a number of my own guitars and banjos. In recent years I have been building a few more under the watchful eye of Julius Borges, who as the owner of Borges Guitars in Littleton Ma. probably builds some of the finest instruments on the planet.

    I just recently completed working with Dick Spottswood on the the musical liner notes for a compilation record of the late Reverend Robert Wilkins entitled "Prodigal Son".
